Celebrate the Harvest. Preserve the Ritual. We turned the mopani worm’s life cycle into a calendar made from harvest bags. A commissioned XiTsonga poem celebrates each stage of the journey, while the dates grow fatter, like the caterpillar, to mark the harvest seasons. Weekdays are deliberately omitted. Time is experienced as the caterpillar experiences it: a continuous cycle, not a series of appointments. As the year passes, pages detach and are reused as collection bags, turning the calendar into a practical tool. Gifted to harvesting families and sold at the factory shop, it supports 200 women across seven villages and preserves cultural knowledge.
